“Ready”

Our usual pre wake up routine. Looking at my little Wonder Jeffrey bundled under his cozy blanket and his polka-dot bumper clothing his eyes and forehead.

While I will get to wake him up like this tomorrow, it will be the beginning of move day and our empty nest. Today is the last full 24 hours of my direct daily responsibilities for this young man I love so much.

I nudge his legs over so I can find a space on the bed and really take in that moment.  I reach over to place the tiny yellow morning pill into his mouth.

I follow him as he rolls out of bed and uses the toilet and a quick wash of his hands.

And then he leads the way back into his room where he plops on the bed.  I lean over for the morning kiss and look into that sweet face.  Hardly a moment passes and he looks back at me and says one simple word that he has not said before during our morning  customary routine:. “Ready.”

Arriving at the Starr House!
